Border Patrol Agent Recovers Stolen Vehicle at Checkpoint

Yuma, Ariz. – A Border Patrol agent recovered a stolen Toyota pick-up truck at an immigration checkpoint, earlier today.

At about 11:40 a.m., a Yuma Sector Border Patrol agent assigned to the checkpoint on Highway 95, south of Quartzite, Ariz., encountered a Toyota pick-up truck bearing no license plates. The vehicle was referred to the secondary inspection area for further investigation of the occupants’ immigration status.

Records checks conducted on the vehicle revealed that it had been reported stolen out of Santa Ana, Calif.

The two occupants of the vehicle were detained and turned over to the Department of Public Safety. The driver of the stolen pick up truck was charged with Theft of Means of Transportation; the passenger was released.
