TUCSON - Four illegal immigrants with criminal records were apprehended by Border Patrol agents working at various stations around Southern Arizona this weekend.
On August 12, Border Patrol agents working at the Douglas Station apprehended a 51-year-old Mexican national for illegally entering into the United States, according to a release from Customs and Border Protection. During processing, agents found that he had an extensive criminal record, including convictions for sexual battery, possession of a firearm, theft and cultivating marijuana. He will be prosecuted for re-entry of an aggravated felon.
Later that same night, Douglas agents apprehended a 29-year-old man from Mexico with a prior conviction for cruelty towards a child and misdemeanor battery (family violence) from March 2007. He will be processed for prosecution, CBP officials say.
Also on August 12, Ajo Station Border Patrol agents arrested a 51-year-old man from Honduras for illegally entering the U.S. Processing revealed the man had a prior conviction for child abuse in Miami, and will be prosecuted for re-entry of an aggravated felon.
On August 13, Naco Station agents apprehended a 36-year-old Mexican man who was illegally present in the United States. Agents discovered he had been convicted in Santa Ana, California, for sexual intercourse with a minor in March 2004. He will be criminally prosecuted for re-entry of an aggravated felon.
According to CBP, all illegal immigrants apprehended by Border Patrol undergo a criminal history check using an automated fingerprint identification system which accesses criminal records throughout the United States.
