Six North Koreans are seeking asylum in South Korea after arriving by boat at a South Korean port.

The coast guard says nine people, including six North Koreans and three Chinese, arrived at Kunsan port Thursday evening. They left Dailin on China's east coast on Monday.

The six North Koreans include three men, two women and one girl. The three Chinese of Korean ethnicity are two women and one man.

The coast guard says the three Chinese are considered illegal migrants and are subject to deportation.

Last month, a boat with 31 North Koreans aboard drifted into southern waters. Four of them decided to stay in South Korea. Seoul says it will repatriate the other 27, once their boat is repaired.
