Activists Seek 500,000 temporary permits for Peruvians

Peru: Undocumented Peruvians Request U.S. Permit After Earthquake

LIP-ir) -- Peruvian activists in the U.S. are attempting to have the U.S. Government approve a permit which would grant undocumented immigrants from Peru a temporary permit in the United States.

The authorization is being requested as a result of the devastating magnitude-8 earthquake which struck Peru on August 15.

According to Reuters News Agency, the U.S. grants the permit known as the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) to countries that have suffered natural disasters or civil wars. The Temporary Protected Status is valid for one year and can be renewed.

RPP News in Peru reported that Sergio Massa, president of the Peruvian American Political Organization in Miami, stated, "We are requesting humanitarian aid, so that the deportation of Peruvians is halted and they are granted the TPS."

Massa reported that a letter, requesting the approval of the permit for Peruvian immigrants, had been sent to U.S. President George W. Bush. He added that copies were also sent to the Secretary of Homeland Security - Michael Chertoff, the Secretary of State - Condoleezza Rice and to other congressmen and U.S. authorities.

It was reported that the approval of the TPS would legalize 500,000 undocumented Peruvians in the U.S. Massa stated he would travel to Lima to request that Peru's Government also solicit the permit.

It is estimated that 1.2 million immigrants, legal and illegal, live in the United States

Okay. I've had it. This is an organized take-over of America when Peru is seeking asylum with 1.2 million here and asking for another 1/2 million to come in because of an "earthquake". Where the heck was Peru, Mexico, ad nauseum when Katrina hit and none of them offered asylum to Americans. This is offically an organized colonization using our own laws against us, while our slack-jawed Congress has approved these TPS's called "amnesty". At least Peruvians are short and won't take much space. That's the only good thing I can see out of this invasion. I'm PO'D.

No more TPS's. Tell Congress charity begins at home.

This is what we get and deserve

This is what we get and deserve... more of the same. The word is out that we have open borders

    Impeach Bush First...
Find Karl Rove ... he is implicated too

We need a jury trial with whites / Blacks and women that have been raped by the illegal aliens

So he can be tried / sentenced and punishment carried out for the world to see

We will not tolerate a roge leader and his henchmen

I am so sick of this double standard Bull Crap coming from frankly the rest of the world!
They all whine, and complain on how evil America is, but yet whenever there is disaster in other countries the first ones there to help is America. Why are they not pleading to Mexico, Venezuela, Spain, England, Ireland, Canada, etc, etc,....to take their people!
Where is the help from Iran, China, Russia, etc.
I am sorry but no more! It is time for America to start taking care of herself and her countrymen first!
It is time for a moratorium on all immigration! If we give them temporary status we all know what will become of temporary, they will never leave!
If we give them temporary status then whenever the rest of the world has a paper cut they will want the same !

We don't need to "legalize" (i.e, amnesty) 500,000+ illegal Peruvians in our country -- we can send them home and help them rebuild areas damaged by the earthquake. Using the rationale of the "Peruvian activists," every time a foreign country has a natural disaster we'll have to provide amnesty to their citizens squatting illegally in our country.

And we all know that these "temporary" permits would be anything but.

NO WE CANT TAKE PEOPLE FROM PERU BECAUSE OF THE EARTHQUAKE. WE STILL HAVE NOT TAKEN CARE OF OUR KATRINA VICTIMS. IT WOULD BE UNFAIR TO THEM TO TAKE PEOPLE FROM ANOTHER COUNTRY WHEN WE HAVENT TAKEN CARE OF ALL OF THEM YET. PERUVIANS CAN GO TO MEXICO OR SOME OTHER COUNTRY AROUND THERE. WE ARE NOT THE ONLY COUNTRY AROUND
