U.S. Border Patrol agents have seized nearly 600 pounds of marijuana after chasing a man into a Tucson shopping center.

An agent driving Thursday afternoon on Interstate 19 tried to pull over sport utility vehicle suspected of carrying drugs, but the SUV left the highway and struck a pickup truck.

Authorities said the SUV's driver drove to a nearby shopping center, where he parked the vehicle and ran into a store.

Several agents found the man, who was identified as a Mexican national from Sonora.

The man was taken into custody, the vehicle was searched and agents said they found 591 pounds of marijuana.
