JACKSON, Miss. —Investigators with the attorney general’s office have arrested 12 undocumented immigrants who were working for a Flora-based construction company.

The men were arrested this week at job sites in Jackson, Attorney General Jim Hood said. The men were employed by Bonds and Associates, Hood said.

The arrests were the result of an investigation by attorney general’s consumer protection division as part of a Homeland Security Investigations Task Force, Hood said in a news release.

Each of the 12 men is charged with one count of fraudulent use of identity and one count of violating the Mississippi Employment Act, and all of them are being held at the Madison County Jail.

Hood said that once the state charges are resolved, the defendants will be released to the custody of federal immigration officials.
