28 Pounds of Meth Found During I-10...

Deputies with the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office seized 28 pounds of meth and arrested two people during a traffic stop on Interstate 10.

The bust happened near the Wilcox Road exit on Tuesday, January 9. Deputies say they found the drugs in a speaker box in the trunk of a white Kia Optima with Georgia plates.

Deputies said they noticed the speaker box felt heavier than it should. They used a handheld x-ray machine and found the drugs hidden inside the box.

Deputies said they also found a stolen gun in the car.

The driver, identified as Kevin Silva Tavares, told deputies that he and a passenger, identified as Jose Luis Arias Castillo, were on their way from Houston to Tampa.
