Plans already in work for 2010 census

According to U.S. Census Bureau estimates, more than 310 million people will be living in more than 130 million households nationwide by 2010, and collection of accurate census data that year by municipalities will directly affect distribution of more than $200 billion in annual federal funding.

Although the next census is still three years away, Enterprise Mayor Kenneth Boswell is already in the early stages of setting up a plan that will enhance the city’s share of the federal funding. Boswell said educating the public on the importance of the census is key, and as the time draws nearer, he pledges an all-out media blitz to local citizens emphasizing how crucial their information will be in helping Enterprise receive its portion of the federal funding.
