Very good news! Look at the crowds! Can it be that we might just get a nominee who isn't an open borders globalist?

Sen. Jeff Sessions of Alabama endorsed Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump's campaign on Sunday.

Trump announced the endorsement alongside Sessions at a massive campaign rally in Madison, Alabama.

"At this time in America's history, we need to make America great again!" Sessions exclaimed, echoing Trump's campaign slogan. "I am pleased to endorse Donald Trump for the presidency of the United States."

Sessions, known for his hard-line stance against illegal immigration, is popular in some conservative circles.

Sen. Ted Cruz, another presidential candidate, frequently invoked Sessions in order to defend his record on immigration. On Sunday, Drudge Report founder Matt Drudge called Sessions the "conservative soul" of the US Senate.

Several other notable politicians have also recently thrown their support to Trump, though another GOP candidate, Marco Rubio, has grabbed the lion's share of recent endorsements from elected officials.

Last Friday, former presidential candidate and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie endorsed Trump. And former Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer, whose own record on illegal immigration once caused a national firestorm, announced her support for Trump on Saturday.

The Trump campaign emailed reporters the following statement hailing Sessions' endorsement:

Today Donald J. Trump received the endorsement of Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions. Senator Sessions is widely recognized as the nation's most highly respected official on the issue of illegal immigration.

Mr. Trump stated, “I am deeply honored to have the endorsement of Senator Jeff Sessions, leader of congressional conservatives. He has been called the Senate's indispensable man and the gold standard. He led the fight against the Gang of Eight, against Obama's trade deal, against Obama's judges, and for American sovereignty. He has stood up to special interests as few have. There is no more respected man in Congress and we are closely aligned on many issues, including trade and illegal immigration, and I am proud to consider Jeff Sessions an advisor, friend and ally.”

Mr. Trump and Senator Sessions surprised the massive crowd at the frontrunner’s Alabama rally just days before Super Tuesday Primary contest.

Senator Sessions added, “I am thrilled today to offer my endorsement of Donald J. Trump for President. This election is our last chance to save U.S. sovereignty and to end the domination of the political establishment over the interests of working Americans. Trump alone has rejected the donor class, defending America’s jobs and wages from open borders, uncontrolled immigration and the massive Trans-Pacific Partnership that will cede U.S. authority to foreign powers. Trump’s trade and immigration plans will revitalize our shrinking middle class, keeping jobs and wealth and income inside the United States of America. Trump understands that a nation must always place the interests of its own people first.”

Senator Sessions continued, “We are nearing fast the point of no return. The people are hurting. Their wages are declining. Their schools are overburdened. Their hospitals are stretched past the breaking point. Crime is up, and community confidence is down. Americans of all backgrounds and ethnicities, immigrant and US-born, are crying out for leadership that puts their needs first, that takes care of those living and dreaming here today, leadership that understands that there is no constituency other than the American constituency. Mr. Trump is that leader.

We are witnessing an incredible movement, arising from the people.

The blonde-haired woman in the metallic Captain America body suit wasn't that impressed when someone joined Republican presidential front runner Donald Trump on stage at his North Alabama rally Sunday afternoon.

"Who is that?" she asked, holding her hand to her eyes to ward off the sun shining down on the 30,000-plus people who filled the municipal football stadium.

Those around her filled her in: Joining Trump on stage – and donning his own "Make America Great" hat- was Jeff Sessions, Alabama's junior Senator. It's the first time Sessions, a Republican, has endorsed a presidential candidate, Trump said, adding that that Senator is just the sort of person with whom he wants to work.

Sessions is the first U.S. Senator to endorse Trump, a political outsider who has courted controversy while amassing a groundswell of public support.
The importance of Sessions' endorsement has been noted before.

"Sessions' endorsement would carry a lot of weight. Sessions has more credibility with Trump's voters than Trump does," Mark Krikorian, executive director of the Center for Immigration Studies, told Politico in January.

Here's why Sessions' endorsement is a big deal for Trump:

Trump has landed THE immigration Senator

In 2014, Sessions was in line to take over as key of the powerful Senate Budget Committee. After an unlikely protest by Wyoming's Mike Enzi, who edged out Sessions in superiority, the Alabama Republican stepped aside and was given the chairmanship of the Senate Subcommittee on Immigration, Refugees and Border Security. In that role, he has become the leading voice against Obama administration plans to allow as many as 5 million undocumented immigrants to remain in the U.S.

When Trump began crafting his own hardline immigration plan, he turned to Sessions.

Even before endorsing Trump's candidacy, Sessions spoke favorably of the candidate's plan to put a halt to most immigration until more stringent criteria is put in place.

"This is exactly the plan America needs," Sessions said. "Crucially, this plan includes an emphasis on lifting struggling minority communities, including our immigrant communities, out of poverty, by preventing corporations from bringing in new workers from overseas to replace them and drive down wages."

Sessions' endorsement of Trump's plan and his candidacy is a stamp of approval for all those who want to the U.S. to take a hardline on immigration. It also lends credibility from a policy standpoint to Trump, who has been criticized for being long on talk and short on specifics.

For Sessions, Trump appears to be the answer to his fight not just on immigration but against the White House's trade policy as well. Sessions is a strong opponent of President Barack Obama's latest trade proposal known as the Trans-Pacific Partnership and he referenced that in Sunday's Alabama speech.

"We need someone to negotiate better," Sessions has said in reference to trade agreement.

He apparently thinks Trump is the man who can be that better negotiator.

It's a major blow to Ted Cruz

Sessions' name has been dropped in almost every Republican debate when immigration is mentioned, most notably by Trump challenger Sen. Ted Cruz. Earlier this year, Sessions indicated he was torn between endorsing a Trump and his fellow Senator.
That question apparently decided, Sessions' endorsement of Cruz is a major blow to the Texas Senator whose campaign peaked with a win in Iowa and has suffered since. Cruz is trailing Trump and Florida Senator Marco Rubio in every poll except the one among Texas Republicans. In those polls, Cruz leads Trump by as much as 15 percent. Texas is the big prize for delegates on Super Tuesday and Cruz needs the momentum – and the numbers – that comes with a victory there.

Sessions' endorsement is not likely enough to swing Texas away from its home Senator. However, in a state that's on the front line of the immigration war, it could move Trump closer to Cruz and since delegates in the state are awarded proportionately, a strong second place showing would pad Trump's already large delegate lead.

It's all about credibility

Trump's campaign has been likened to a sideshow and in many ways it is. Sunday's rally in Madison came complete with people hawking "Make America Great" underwear and chants of "you're fired" to protesters in a takeoff of the mogul's reality show.

Sessions' endorsement, which comes just days after that of New Jersey Governor and former presidential candidate Chris Christie, lends of hefty dose of credibility among conservatives for Trump's White House bid.

While wildly popular among some voters, elected officials have seemed slow to endorse Trump. Before Sessions and Christie, Trump had picked up only three major endorsements from current elected officials: Maine Gov. Paul LePage, New York Rep. Chris Collins and California Rep. Duncan Hunter. A vote of confidence from a sitting U.S. Senator is a major win for Trump, who continued to heap praise on Sessions after the endorsement.

"That is so great. You know, (Sessions) is an incredible guy," Trump said.

Two more things...

In late January, Stephen Miller, Sessions' long-time communications director, left to join Trump's campaign as senior policy adviser. That change over can't be underestimated for either Sessions or Trump. Miller is the most visible link between the two.

Does this mean Sessions could be destined for a Trump White House?

Don't rule it out.

"I believe that with regard to lawfulness, immigration, and trade, good people, working for a strong president, can make a huge and positive difference,"Sessions said just last week.

Massive Alabama crowd supports Donald Trump

MADISON, AL (WAFF) -Lines of supporters ready to listen to presidential candidate Donald J. Trump formed early Sunday morning, quickly swelling within a matter of hours.

More than 30,000 Donald Trump supporters received tickets to Sunday afternoon's event. Although an official tally of attendees has yet to be announced, many swarmed into the city of Madison during his visit to the valley campaigning just two days before the Alabama primary.

Sunday's rally had originally been scheduled to be held at Black Hall Aerospace off Wall Triana Highway, however after meeting with city and public safety officials, campaign organizers decided to move the venue.

There were 100-plus members of law enforcement at Sunday's rally.

Trump tweeted shortly before landing that he had a "big surprise announcement" in store for the audience. Shortly after reaching the stage, Trump welcomed Senator Jeff Sessions to the microphone, who then officially announced his endorsement of the candidate.
"He is dedicated to leading this country in an effective way," Sessions said.

Trump's rally comes just under 24 hours after one held by Republican challenger Marco Rubio. Some Rubio supporters held signs reading 'Dump Trump,' and protesters seen just off-site from the Trump rally held signs with that and other anti-Trump slogans.
A warning broadcast on the public address system ahead of Trump's arrival anticipated anti-Trump protesters within the crowd, and encouraged supporters to signal the presence of protesters by shouting "Trump, Trump Trump!" to signal security.

Shortly after Sessions left the stage, Trump directly addressed someone in the crowd and told security to "Get him out of here.... It never fails."

At least two more protesters were led off by security, who apparently carried "Black Lives Matter" signs.

"All lives matter," Trump said as the crowd booed those being led out. "We have to love everybody."

As Trump settled into his prepared remarks, he took aim at his fellow Republican and Democratic contenders in the presidential race.
"Hillary [Clinton] shouldn't even be allowed to run," he said. "She broke the law."

Trump also reiterated his strong opinions on topics such as the proposed wall he wants to build between this country and Mexico, as well his desire to increase strength in libel laws against media who he says create "hit pieces."

He affirmed his desire to re-establish a stronger U.S. military, and said that priority one is "we take out ISIS," among a series of cheers.

Trump also promised the crowd that "we are going to get our jobs back."

"I believe he can build America up great again," said supporter Belinda Wilkerson.

Wilkerson works 40 hours a week, but the last few weeks have been difficult, she explained.

"I work hard, and I know I don't have a college education to earn what my daughter does," said Wilkerson.

Wilkerson works as a custodian only making $12 an hour and needs every penny she earns.

"I don't like giving my tax money to people that can be working," Wilkerson explained.

Now, she's working toward a better life and turning to this man to help.

Sunday, Trump's focus was on immigration, jobs, education and much more.

"We take out ISIS number one, we take out ISIS," said Trump.

The rallies are an eleventh-hour push to garner favor with voters ahead of Super Tuesday, when Alabama and a dozen other states hold their primary elections.

"The biggest thing... you've gotta go out and vote Tuesday," Trump stressed. "I want a resounding vote. You've gotta knock the hell out of everybody."

Trump finished his 1.5-hour long speech encouraging folks to vote.

"We are going to protect our country militarily, we're going to protect our country," said Trump.

And for Wilkerson, it's exactly what she wanted to hear.

"I believe in helping other countries, but we need to start at home," said Wilkerson.
