Colorado U.S. Rep. Jared Polis on Friday announced the introduction of the American DREAM Act, a bill that would provide a pathway to legal status for undocumented college and military-bound children who have lived most of their lives in the United States.

Under the American DREAM Act, qualified students would be eligible for legal immigration status upon high school graduation. The students would then achieve permanent legal residency if they attend college or serve in the military.

Here's what Chris Simcox had to say during the last Dream Act attempt:

“Like we did in June and again this week," said Minutemen leader Chris Simcox, "we need to jam Congressional faxes and phones in order to deliver a clarion message that we will not reward people who have violated existing federal statutes, stolen the identities of hardworking American citizens, and illicitly used tax-payer subsidized social services while remaining in this country illegally.â€

[quote]The Minutemen Civil Defense Corps, an adamant opponent of illegal immigration, isn’t against the American DREAM Act in principal, according to president Chris Simcox. Simcox said if the bill focuses only on the child, and doesn’t have any extra provisions like allowing the student’s family a pathway to citizenship as well, then, depending on the bill’s language, he isn’t necessarily against it.

Thank you MW.........I could have sworn I remembered Simcox as being very hard line when it came to this.

So again, WHY the sudden change? Has he been bought off, threatened, harassed, what?
Excellent questions. Perhaps William can shed some light on Simcox's softer position on the Dream Act.

Here is the qualifier by Simcox. In other words he opposes the current Act, if they amended it then he might not oppose it. Personally I don't agree, I say no amnesty for anyone.
