U.S. Border Patrol Weekly Blotter: (08/11/2010)

Border Patrol agents seized over 2,320 pounds of marijuana and 78 pounds of cocaine. Agents arrested 10 criminal aliens and 8 gang members. There were 3 rocking incidents.

El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Deming, New Mexico. During processing, the subject admitted to being a Sureño 13 gang member, and records checks revealed he had an extensive criminal history.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents rescued two illegal aliens from Mexico near Hidalgo, Texas. The subjects were in distress after having become stuck in rising flood waters. The agents entered the water and pulled both subjects to safety.


San Diego Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Chula Vista, California. During processing, the subject admitted to being a Mara Salvatrucha 13 (MS-13) gang member. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior criminal history and had been previously removed from the United States.

El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico at the traffic checkpoint near Las Cruces, New Mexico. Records checks revealed the subject was a convicted sex offender and had been previously removed from the United States.


El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Santa Teresa, New Mexico. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for sexual assault of a minor and had been previously removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested two illegal aliens at the traffic checkpoint near Falfurrias, Texas. The driver of a tractor-trailer presented himself for inspection, and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the conveyance. Two subjects were discovered in the air-dam and claimed that they climbed onto the truck unbeknownst to the driver while the conveyance was parked at a truck stop.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,025 pounds of marijuana and a Ford truck near Douglas, Arizona. Agents on routine patrol duties located the abandoned vehicle, and a search revealed the marijuana inside.

El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near El Paso, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject had an active arrest warrant for aggravated motor theft issued in the state of Colorado. Records further revealed that the subject was a Sureño 13 gang member and had been previously removed from the United States.


El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Santa Teresa, New Mexico. Records checks revealed the subject had an extensive criminal history, including a prior conviction and subsequent six-year prison sentence for manslaughter.


San Diego Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 78 pounds of cocaine, a Chevrolet truck, and arrested a United States Citizen (USC) at the traffic checkpoint near Pine Valley, California. The subject presented herself for inspection and Border Patrol canine alerted to the truck. An inspection by agents revealed the narcotics concealed within the truck.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 754 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer, and arrested a national of Mexico at the traffic checkpoint near Nogales, Arizona. The subject presented himself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the trailer. A search by agents revealed the marijuana.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Calexico, California. During processing, the subject admitted to being a Barrio Newhall gang member, and records checks revealed he had been previously removed from the United States.


El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 206 pounds of marijuana and arrested a national of Mexico following an ultralight aircraft (ULA) incursion near Deming, New Mexico. A CBP Office of Air and Marine air asset was deployed to the area, and Border Patrol agents subsequently observed the ULA traveling toward Mexico. Agents responded to a possible drop zone where they apprehended the subject and recovered the marijuana. During the arrest, the subject attempted to assault an agent with a knife. He was subdued and taken into custody without further incident.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Nogales, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for sexual assault in the state of Wisconsin and had been previously removed from the United States.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Calexico, California. During processing, the subject admitted to being a Wanderer gang member, and records checks revealed he had been previously removed from the United States.


Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested a USC, and seized a loaded firearm and knife near Laredo, Texas. The subject was wanted for the robbery of a local business, and had a criminal history that included robbery and narcotics convictions.


Yuma Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Blythe, California. Records checks revealed the subject had multiple convictions for sex crimes, and had been previously removed from the United States.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Calexico, California. During processing, the subject admitted to being a Sureño 13 gang member. Records checks revealed the subject had been previously removed from the United States.


El Paso Sector – Border Patrol Agents arrested a national of Mexico near Las Cruces, New Mexico. Records checks revealed the subject had a criminal history and he was identified as a Sureño 13 gang member.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents assisted local law enforcement officers with the arrest of six subjects from Mexico, and the seizure of 70 pounds of marijuana, $12,000 in U.S. currency, four firearms, a ballistic vest and two vehicles near Weslaco, Texas.

El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico at the traffic checkpoint near Las Cruces, New Mexico. The subject was traveling with a 13-year-old USC girl who was confirmed as a missing person.


Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested four illegal aliens from Mexico and seized 335 pounds of marijuana near Laredo, Texas. Agents responded to suspicious activity and discovered the marijuana and the subjects. Two subjects resisted arrest and assaulted an agent in an attempt to abscond. The subjects were subdued and taken into custody.


New Orleans Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from El Salvador near Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Records checks revealed the subject had been previously deported from Canada for committing war crimes and crimes against humanity.


Ramey Sector – Border Patrol agents assisted local law enforcement officers in the arrest of a subject suspected of a home invasion and armed robbery near Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. Agents encountered the subject hiding underneath a tractor-trailer after he crashed his vehicle while attempting to abscond from local law enforcement authorities.
