    Another Undecided? Voinovich?

    Another Undecided?

Sen. Voinovich voted in favor of cloture on the amnesty bill earlier this month, and I haven't seen his name on any list of possible No votes. But this Ohio blogger called Voinovich's Washington and Cleveland offices, and was told that the senator hadn't yet made up his mind and "is taking comments from constituents."

Although I live in Oregon, I was born and raised in Dayton. In my estimation, only citizens of Michigan could be harmed as much as the people of Ohio if S 1348/S 1639 (or whatever it may be called this week).

Ohio's economy is directly tied to downturns in manufacturing and especially auto manufacturing. With GM and Ford's recent financial problems, the jobs available in the market should be available only for citizens, many laid off or eliminated from the auto industry. What people outside the Rust Belt don't understand is that auto industry downturns kill of lots and lots of jobs from suppliers, parts contractors, machine shops, convenience stores, restaurants, etc.

The thought that illegal aliens would have an opportunity to compete with American citizens for those jobs is absolutely repulsive. The legal citizens of Ohio have no friends in DC. To me, Sherrod Brown and George Voinovich have shown all the signs of buying off on the amnesty for the enforcement lie.

If you are from Ohio, you OWE your fellow citizens a call and fax to both of these Ohio sellouts. I am furious when I hear that hardworking blue collar people who gave everything to the auto and steel industries are about to get screwed! Even if you are not fron Ohio, give these clowns a call and knock Voinovich off the fence!

Call Voinovich and Brown and let them know this is unacceptable!

If you live in Columbus, Cincinnati, Dayton, Cleveland, Toledo or anywhere else in Ohio you have to raise a big big stink with both of these guys!

Here's a letter I got from Sherrod Brown today, he dances around his YES cloture vote. I think he needs a dose of Buckeye pride.

    Dear Mr. XXXX:

Thank you for contacting me about my views on the current immigration proposals being considered by Congress.

The Senate recently considered S. 1348, the Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act of 2007, but there was no vote on the final bill. On June 7, 2007, the Senate voted 45 yeas to 50 nays on a cloture vote to limit debate on this bill. While I voted in favor of limiting debate so that the Senate could move on to other important legislative issues, I had serious reservations about the content of the bill and my vote on S. 1348 would have hinged on the final product. Because the cloture vote failed, S.1348 will not come up for a final vote. Should these issues come again before the Senate, I will be sure to keep your views in mind.

Thank you again for contacting me.

    Sincerely,
    Sherrod Brown
