Rally Against Illegal Immigrants Draws Many
Rally Also Acts To Support Rep. Tancredo

A rally against illegal immigration Saturday was coupled with a political rally for a presidential candidate who has made immigration reform his top priority.

News 4's Tim Waller was in that crowd Saturday morning and reported that the political name-dropping at the rally against illegal immigration in Greenville was for Republican candidate Tom Tancrdeo of Colorado.

Tancredo was unable to attend the rally, even though there was word from some organizers that he would attend because of his strong stance about immigration reform.

Many gathered at about noon near the federal courthouse in Greenville to lend their support for Tancredo and discuss what some are calling the illegal immigration crisis.

"The day will come, mark my words. They'll tear the gates off if we don't stop them now. The illegals, no matter who they are, cannot pass our borders," said South Carolinians for Immigration representative John Hill.

The rally attracted people from all around, including one woman, Juliett Kozak, who drove from Dacusville to take part.

"In fact, they're tossing our law against illegal immigrants out and writing a new law which will allow millions and millions and millions of more of them to come in," Kozak said.

Saturday's demonstration was peaceful, and there was no one there in opposition.

Representatives for Tancredo said he was in New Hampshire.
