Republican candidate Sen. John McCain has been ducking the illegal immigration issue during the campaign — and no wonder! His home state of Arizona is experiencing an unprecedented invasion of illegal aliens.

In a new report released by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Arizona’s illegal alien population in January 2007 is estimated to be 530,000 — or about three out of every four residents who are not citizens.

According to the Daily Dispatch, that’s a 60% increase from the estimated 330,000 illegal immigrants Homeland Security says were in the state at the beginning of the decade.

These are numbers from almost two years ago and don't take into account the thousands which have left the state in the wake of increased enforcement, rotten economy, etc.
