There they go again / Arizona legislators going after ‘birthright citizenship’

Consider this paradox. With one hand, the Arizona Legislature requires anyone questioned by a state or local police officer to be able to prove he or she is in the country legally. With the other, it is now considering making it impossible for one group of citizens – the U.S.-born children of illegal immigrants – to obtain the documents to prove it.

This fall, Arizona legislators are expected to debate a bill that would deny birth certificates to the so-called “anchor babiesâ€
