PARADISE VALLEY, Ariz. -- Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio launched his 18th consecutive holiday patrol led by posse members Friday afternoon at the Paradise Valley Mall despite being told by the Phoenix Metro Center shopping complex not to come back.

“I don’t know if there’s politics involved here because we’re going after illegal immigration, but I’m shocked this did happen because we always have our kickoff over there, but now we’re using Paradise Valley Mall," Arpaio said.

The Metro Center shopping complex in Phoenix recently came under new ownership and wasted no time telling Arpaio that he and his posse members were not welcome.

“I will say this, if there is any violence in that mall, I’m sending my crime suppression illegal immigration units in that area,â€
