ATF Seeks Emergency Authority to Crack Down on Gun Smugglers

ATF Seeks Emergency Authority to Crack Down on Gun Smugglers

    Last Update: 1:20 pm

WASHINGTON - The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms is asking the White House for emergency authority to try to crack down on gun smugglers.

The ATF wants the power to require dealers near the Mexican border to report multiple purchases of high-powered rifles. The new policy would affect customers who buy two or more guns in a five-day period from the same dealer.

The move is intended to help Mexican authorities fight the cartels.

The ATF is asking the White House to sign off on its request by January 5.

If we want to help the Mexican government fight the cartels, the best thing we can do is to secure our border against illegal immigrants and drugs immediately as these pipelines are the main money makers for said cartels!

Think how much money would be kept here in our economy if the drugs couldn't get in and the cash couldn't get out.

How do you supply a hundred thousand man army(cartel) purchasing 1-2 guns at a time, I would suspect the ammo required would be in the million rounds, simply don't fly with me that majority of arms are coming from north of the border rather I would guess huge shipments arriving in Mexican ports. Perhaps from China, Iran, etc.

Ever notice how the American public always get harassed in trying to stop drug wars like me not able to purchase sinus medication without signing for it, yep that sure solved another problem, oh and let us not forget the TSA harassing kids and old ladies look at how many problems that has solved.
I'm old with many opinions few solutions.

I would like to know since when the ATF doesn't have the vested authority to crack down on gun smuggling? As far as I know, they have TREMENDOUS power to do such things. We need to watch out for these kinds of shenanigans! The cartels AREN'T being supplied in these small numbers from the U.S. Their $billions$ will buy them WHAT they want, WHEN they want and HOW MANY they want from anywhere in the world.
