RALEIGH, N.C. -- Three women and two men were arrested Thursday night by local and federal authorities as part of a lengthy investigation into an alleged prostitution ring.

A task force led by the FBI arrested one man and one woman shortly after 7:30 p.m. at a house at 3117 Tryon Road that authorities said was used as a brothel.

Later Thursday, two women and one man were arrested at a second alleged brothel at 5710 Louisburg Road.

"This is part of a very complex investigation. These are not easy arrests to make," said Jim Sughrue, the spokesman for the Raleigh Police Department.

In addition to the FBI and Raleigh police, the task force includes the Wake County Sheriff's Office and the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Sughrue said more arrests are likely as the investigation continues and more evidence is gathered.

But residents who live near 3117 Tryon Road said they are happy with the initial arrests.

"It ought to be broken up," neighbor Mary Strickland said. "It's not good for the neighborhood."

The FBI and ICE investigating a prostitution ring....hmmmm.
