TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — Two U.S. citizens are jailed after they allegedly tried to smuggle 113 pounds of marijuana across the border near Douglas.

The U.S. Border Patrol says the men were arrested March 16 after a citizen told authorities that drugs were possibly being loaded into a vehicle west of Douglas on State Route 80.

Agents arrived and busted two suspects who allegedly tried to flee into Mexico.

Federal authorities say the alleged smugglers were identified as U.S. citizens. A search of their vehicle led to the discovery of two bundles of marijuana the government estimates is worth over $50,000.
