YUMA, AZ (AP) - U.S. Border Patrol agents from the Yuma sector say they have rescued six illegal immigrants in a remote desert area.

Agents assigned to the Yuma Station responded Tuesday night to the activation of a rescue beacon south of the Fortuna Mine about 25 miles east of Yuma.

They found five men and one woman - all from Mexico - who said they were dehydrated after being stranded in the desert for almost two days without sufficient water.

The immigrants were transported to the Yuma Regional Medical Center for medical care.

Authorities say four of the six people were released from the hospital by Wednesday and transported to the Yuma Station where they were being processed for deportation.
