Tucson Sector Border Patrol Agents Arrest Illegal Aliens with Dangerous Criminal Histories

    (Wednesday, September 07, 2011)

Tucson, AZ – Over the long Holiday weekend in three separate incidents, Tucson Sector Border Patrol agents arrested three illegal aliens with dangerous criminal histories. Two of the illegal aliens had felony convictions and another had a prior conviction as a sex offender with an outstanding warrant.

On Thursday, Willcox Station agents patrolling near Elfrida, Ariz., apprehended an illegal alien from Oaxaca, Mexico. During processing, using the Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System (IAFIS), agents ascertained the man had a criminal record including convictions for assault with a deadly weapon stemming out of the State of Florida in 1992, for which he received 24 months incarceration. He had previously been removed from the United States in 1994. He is being criminally prosecuted for re-entry of an aggravated felon.

Later that night, agents from the Casa Grande Station apprehended an illegal alien from Honduras who had previously been convicted and deported. Records checks revealed the Honduran national had been arrested in Fairfax, Virginia in 2008 and charged with Murder 1st Degree. In May of 2010, the suspect was convicted of homicide and was removed to Honduras in March 2011. The suspect will be prosecuted for Illegally Re-entry of a previously removed felon.

On Saturday, an illegal alien from Michoacán, Mexico, was apprehended by Naco Station agents while patrolling their area of responsibility. Record checks revealed the suspect had a prior conviction in California, for sexual intercourse with a minor. He was convicted and sentenced to 180 days in jail and 36 months probation. Records showed that the suspect has an outstanding warrant for the same charges out of the Visalia, California Sheriff’s Office (VCSO). VCSO was contacted and advised the suspect will be served this warrant and extradited pending disposition on his Federal charges.

The criminal histories of all the subjects were revealed after their fingerprints were scanned into the Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System (IAFIS). Agents use IAFIS to access criminal records throughout the United States and it assists by rapidly identifying criminal aliens so they can be brought to an appropriate law enforcement resolution.

Since launching the Southwest Border Initiative in March 2009, the Department of Homeland Security has made significant investments towards establishing a secure and safe border environment and improving the quality of life throughout the communities in the state of Arizona.

The Border Patrol welcomes assistance from the community. Report suspicious activity by calling toll free 1-877-872-7435. All calls will be answered and will remain anonymous.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is the unified border agency within the Department of Homeland Security charged with the management, control and protection of our nation's borders at and between the official ports of entry. CBP is charged with keeping terrorists and terrorist weapons out of the country while enforcing hundreds of U.S. laws.

    Thanks everyone.
Shortly after I got back online San Diego had a power outage that lasted until 10:45 p.m. I don't know how big it was or why yet, I didn't have the energy to waste checking on this info. We were having a little heatwave so it probably over loaded the system.
