Another march is planned for Saturday to protest Sheriff Joe Arpaio's immigration policies.
Up to 2,000 people will walk from the Wells Fargo building in downtown Phoenix to the Tent City Jail starting at 9 a.m.
Chris Fleischman of the group Puente said they want to shine the spotlight on Arpaio.
"We want to highlight to the country that we are sick and tired of the human rights abuses inside the Tent City and by the very raids that the sheriff does to terrorize the population of immigrants, whether they're documented or not," he said.
The march has forced the sheriff's office to cancel all inmate visits at the Durango Jail facility on Saturday. "Because the protest crowd size is estimated to be in the thousands, Arpaio says the protestors will make public access to the jail complex nearly impossible," said a statement from the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.
To compensate for that, visitation hours will be extended to 8:30 p.m. Friday nightSupport our FIGHT AGAINST illegal immigration & Amnesty by joining our E-mail Alerts at http://eepurl.com/cktGTn
