Bisbee police report

March 7

• 1:20 p.m. — Criminal damage to property was reported from a residence in the first block of Campbell Avenue.

• 3:01 p.m. — A woman was cited for driving on a suspended license on Highway 80 near Erie Street. The vehicle was impounded.

• 3:29 p.m. — The U.S. Border Patrol reported a green SUV had loaded up with possible illegal immigrants near Airport Road and Purdy Lane and was northbound on Airport. The vehicle was located off the road at Oliver Circle and Cole Avenue. The driver was exiting the vehicle and was taken into investigative detention. No others were in the vehicle but the 28-year-old driver admitted to dropping off illegal immigrants at the rifle range. The driver had a suspended license and a valid misdemeanor warrant out of Glendale. The Mexican nationals were not located.

• 9:21 p.m. — A resident in the 100 block of A Street reported hearing five gunshots in the area.

March 8

• 8:34 a.m. — A vehicle was stopped on Highway 80 near mile post 342. Twelve illegal immigrants were located and turned over to the U.S. Border Patrol. The vehicle was impounded.

• 3:38 p.m. — The U.S. Border Patrol requested assistance with a group of possible illegal immigrants observed running across the road on Highway 92 near mile post 346. When officers arrived, the Border Patrol was on the scene with a helicopter. Eleven illegal immigrants were detained after a short chase and turned over to the Border Patrol.

• 4:17 p.m. — Someone stole a radiator from a 1968 Chevy Nova that was parked at a residence on the first block of Spray Avenue.

• 5:41 p.m. — A break-in and criminal damage was reported at a residence in the 800 block of Pittsburg Avenue. The house was ransacked and items broken.

• 8:25 p.m. — A vehicle was stopped for speeding on Bisbee Road near 1st Street. The driver stated his license was suspended. He was cited and released and given a ride home.

March 9

• 12:36 a.m. — Two separate callers reported a fight between an unknown number of people at the Stock Exchange. When officers arrived at the scene all had disbursed.

• 11:33 a.m. — A report was received about possible illegal immigrants loading into a red Bronco. The vehicle was stopped on East Vista near Ruppe Avenue. Eight illegal immigrants were located and turned over to the Border Patrol. The vehicle was impounded.

• 1:14 p.m. — A purse was reported stolen from a vehicle while parked in front of a house in the 500 block of Mayer Avenue. The purse was later found on the road. Money was missing.

• 6:10 p.m. — Nine illegal immigrants were located near Bisbee Junction and turned over to the Border Patrol.

March 10

• 9:31 a.m. — A report was received that feces had been thrown on the church doors at the Community Church of God at 201 Arizona St.

• 5:33 p.m. — Burglary was reported at a residence in the 200 block of Blackknob. Someone had entered the home and stolen $205 in bills and $100 in change.

• 6:30 p.m. — A vehicle was stopped on Highway 80 near mile post 341. Nine illegal immigrants were located, two in the passenger compartment, six underneath a tarp in the bed of the truck, and the driver. All were turned over to the Border Patrol. The vehicle was impounded.

• 7:11 p.m. — A vehicle was stopped on Highway 92 near Tovreaville Road. The vehicle was a rental car occupied by three illegal immigrants. They were turned over to the Border Patrol, and the vehicle was impounded.

• 8:36 p.m. — A man and woman were cited for domestic violence and disorderly conduct in the first block of Camino Court.

March 11

• 7:11 a.m. — The Cochise County Association for the Handicapped reported someone had attempted to break into their building.

• 10:47 a.m. — Two illegal immigrants were reported being held at the Bible Baptist Church on Naco Highway. The police were asked to assist until the U.S. Border Patrol arrived.

• 11:46 a.m. — A theft was reported from the 500 block of Santa Cruz Drive. An Apple iPod Classic, valued at $350, was reported missing from a vehicle that had been on loan.

• 4:05 p.m. — An emergency room employee at the Copper Queen Hospital reported a man had come in with gunshot wounds to his hand and thigh. The man advised the officer that he was getting ready to go target shooting when he grabbed the gun and shot himself in the hand. The bullet exited his hand and entered his left thigh and exited, lodging in the driver’s door panel of his vehicle. He was treated and released for injuries.

• 7:49 p.m. — Someone driving a white late 1990s Ford truck struck the crosswalk sign and a city trash container in front of Penny Lane Thrift store on Bisbee Road.
