TUCSON, Ariz. - A federal judge has postponed a trial for the owner of a Sierra Vista drywall company accused of knowingly hiring illegal immigrants.

The trial for company owner Ivan Hardt and employee Santiago Trejo-Ramirez has been reset for Jan. 4.

Hardt's company was raided in March 2007 by immigration agents who alleged the business underreported its number of employees to federal inspectors and that some workers were found to have fraudulent work documents.

Hardt and Trejo-Ramirez have pleaded not-guilty to the charges against them.

U.S. District Judge Raner Collins granted the postponement at the request of Hardt's lawyer.

In this competitive world, I'm hoping another drywall company sues this one for unfair business practices and wins for "loss of business".

Surely some SMART lawyer could pull this off.
