Maricopa County sheriff's deputies have arrested 65 undocumented immigrants in the past three weeks while acting as federal agents.

Deputies trained by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency made 41 of those arrests in the past three days.

Thirty people were arrested under the federal law Monday night near Litchfield Park, according to a sheriff's spokesman. Deputies found the group inside a house during a routine check; the owners were on vacation and had made arrangements with the Sheriff's Office to keep an eye on the home.

Meanwhile, deputies continue to arrest undocumented immigrants under the state smuggling law. More than 500 people have been arrested on suspicion of conspiring to smuggle themselves or others into Arizona since March 2006.
