Maricopa County sheriff's deputies are searching four Valley Pei Wei restaurants and as well as the corporate offices in Scottsdale on Friday for more than 120 people suspected of identity theft.

According to a news release, the deputies have search warrants for corporate offices of the national restaurant chain and the four Valley locations.

The Sheriff's Office suspects there are more than 100 identity-theft victims.

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - Maricopa County Sheriff’s Deputies are making entry into the corporate offices in Scottsdale of the national restaurant chain, Pei Wei, as well as four valley Pei Wei Asian Diner locations.

Deputies are armed with search warrants in search of as many as 121 potential suspects of ID theft.

According to Sheriff Joe Arpaio, this investigation has over 100 victims who wish to aid in prosecution of those stealing US citizens identification information in order to unlawfully secure employment in the United States.

Maricopa County sheriff's deputies have arrested 23 people during a search of several Pei Wei restaurants Friday.

Deputies arrested six of 12 employees at one restaurant on the corner of Seventh Street and Glendale Avenue. Other arrests were made at the location in Fountain Hills, Tempe and the corporate office in Scottsdale. The Fountain Hills restaurant, located near Shea Boulevard and Eagle Mountain Parkway, was closed Friday afternoon.

The Sheriff's Office is searching the restaurants as well as the corporate offices for people suspected of identity theft.

Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, who was at the restaurant on Glendale Avenue, said his office received an anonymous tip six months ago about possible identity thefts in the Valley. He said he believes more than 120 people working for the company have false identities, some from children and some from people who are dead across the nation.

Bystanders congratulated Arpaio on his "good work" while others protested. Arpaio said his deputies are not finished and will go after other Pei Wei locations.

The deputies used search warrants to enter various locations of the national restaurant chain, but Arpaio said he hopes for future cooperation from other Pei Wei's so search warrants will not be necessary.

Last March, the sheriff conducted a similar search in four Valley McDonald's locations when he believed more than 50 employees were using false IDs to work in the country.

I don't think there's a restaurant in this country that has not been infiltrated by illegal invaders doing the same thing!

Well in 2 months audit them again and again and again. Make sure their hire legals. If they continue to hire illegals then the city council needs to yank the business license for operating an illegal business.
