    Employers plot to overwhelm E-Verify
    Nov 27, 2007

Employment lawyers are advising the business community to wait until the last two weeks of the year to sign up for E-Verify, in hopes of crashing the system set up to at least try to determine if the people they're hiring are legally entitled to work here.

"If you have 100,000 people signing up in December, how are they going to handle it?" asked attorney Julie Pace, who represents the business groups suing the state to get the new employer sanctions law thrown out.

For years, the business community successfully lobbied to kill any attempt to hold Arizona employers accountable for who they hire. And it worked, until last year when the public was finally so fed up that the Legislature had to act.

Businesses contend that the law, which goes into effect Jan. 1, is unconstitutional, that it's impossible for them to know for sure that the people they're hiring are here legally. They're right. E-Verify won't catch 100 percent of those who are here illegally, those who have stolen someone else's identity, for instance. But it will catch plenty of people and if the system does clear someone it shouldn't have cleared, the employers will likely not be in trouble because they'll have the documents to show that they at least tried to follow the law and do the right thing.

That is, if they're really interested in following the law and doing the right thing....

the law states that if you knowingly hire and illegal. If you have 100 employees and 1 or 2 turn out to be illegal, it stands to reason that they won't be fined. They are just using this as an excuse becasue they really don't care. Same with the IRS no-match letters. If I was an employee, I would want to know if my info doesn't match up so their argument there is stupid and just an excuse. If there are a whole bunch of no match letters, that would help get the system in order so that this employee, going to another job won't have to worry about not matching up. Can you imagine going to collect your SS and finding out that you don't have anything coming because your info was wrong. They, in the long run will be helped with this law.

E-Verify is an Internet-based system operated by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) in partnership with the Social Security Administration (SSA). E-Verify is currently free to employers and is available in all 50 states. E-Verify provides an automated link to federal databases to help employers determine employment eligibility of new hires and the validity onumbers.f their Social Security
Excuse me but isn't this cyber terrorism/attack and subversive activity -- they hope to crash the E-Verify system.

Will crashing E-Verify affect Social Security checks and Medicare to the elderly?

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyber-terrorism

Cyber-terrorism is the leveraging of a target's computers and information technology, particularly via the Internet, to cause physical, real-world harm or severe disruption
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subversive

All willful acts that are intended to be detrimental to the best interests of the government and that do not fall into the categories of treason, sedition, sabotage, or espionage are placed in the category of subversive activity.
A cyber attack on E-Verify amounts to:
To 'Aid or Abet' is to actively, knowingly, or intentionally assist another person in the commission or attempted commission of a crime, such as illegally entering our country without our permission or knowledge, housing them, transporting them, or employing them.

    The Law:
    1. It is 'aiding or abetting' to "encourage or induce an alien to come to, enter, or reside in the United States, knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that such coming to, entry, or residence is or will be in violation of law." 8 U.S.C. § 1324(a)(1)(A)(iv).

    2. It is 'aiding or abetting' to "conceal or attempt to conceal, harbor, or shield from detection, illegal aliens, including any building or any means of transportation."
    8 U.S.C. § 1324(a)(1)(A)(iii).

    3. It is also 'aiding or abetting' to "engage in any conspiracy to commit any of the preceding acts."
    8 U.S.C. § 1324(a)(1)(A)(v)(I).

    4. It is a felony to 'aid or abet' in the commission of the above acts.
    8 U.S.C. § 1324(a)(1)(A)(v)(II).

There is no more fundamental axiom of American freedom than the familiar statement: In a free country we punish men for crimes they commit but never for the opinions they have.

I thought the same thing too. I mean, what a great way to get SS straightened out. It's just a lame excuse, for our lame government. You can bet money is behind it all. It isn't us little peoples money though.......

There have been some comments that the SS system is so messed up that a lot of American citizens would be fired.

Think about what they are saying exactly. They are saying, they have lost control of the files and the system of SS. If this is true, they don't know who is paying, what number, what name, etc.

Shouldn't this be cause for alarm? Shouldn't Americans be worried about their SS accounts?

Maybe it's time everyone make a trek down to the SS office and make sure their 'papers are in order'.

This would seem to be admitting they haven't been diligent in keeping our records straight - and how much might that be due to ID fraud and theft - and how much of that due to illegal aliens using our ID's?

If they are planning to deliberately cause problems, that is a concern for all of us.

Hmmm...........and lawyers wonder why they have a reputation for being sleazy snakes in the grass. IMO, we have too many darn lawyers in this country! Law schools pump 'em out like illegals pump out anchor babies.
