PHOENIX - Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer plans to attend a court hearing in California over portions of SB 1070, according to a spokesman.

Paul Senseman said Brewer will attend the November 1 hearing before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit in San Francisco.

The hearing concerns the state's appeal of the order disallowing portions of SB 1070 in the case of United States of America v. State of Arizona and Janice K. Brewer.

The hearing, in which both sides will have a half hour to present its arguments, begins at 9 a.m.

"I will personally attend this hearing on behalf of the overwhelming majority of citizens who support the rule of law," Brewer said in a statement.. "I am steadfast in my belief that States have the sovereign right to enforce immigration laws consistent with federal immigration laws."

Brewer also said the state would not be faced with the problem of illegal immigration if the federal government "honored its responsibilities."
