State lawmaker Russell Pearce is exploring a run for Congress against incumbent Jeff Flake.

Pearce says his first step is raising $12,000 to conduct a poll.

"Did a poll a couple of years ago and Jeff was at that time a little better known than I was. But when it came to issues, the public was on my side on the issues."

Pearce says he agrees with Congressman Flake on most issues, but not immigration reform. "We agree on so many issues, we absolutely disagree terribly on the open border issues. He's open border, he's pro amnesty."

He also says Flake broke his pledge to seek only three terms.

Pearce touts his own record fighting illegal immigration.

"I've led the battle on Proposition 200 - helped write that. I've led the battle on stopping them from getting drivers licenses. I've led the battle on four ballot initiatives that were on the ballot this last November that passed overwhelmingly."
