After a month on the run, an inmate who escaped from the Gillespie County Jail was captured Saturday.

Jose Rafael Guerra was arrested about 5 a.m. by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Laredo Port of Entry as he tried to re-enter the United States from Mexico.

According to the U.S. Marshall’s Lone Star Fugitive Task Force, border officials were on alert for Guerra after he fled to Mexico.

Guerra broke free from the jail July 3, escaping from a restraint chair.

His bold escape was captured on the jail’s surveillance video.

Authorities warned that Guerra possibly was armed and dangerous.

An all-out manhunt ensued, with the Gillespie County Sheriff’s Office and U.S. marshals from Austin, San Antonio, Del Rio and Laredo after Guerra.

Dumb criminal of the day award goes to Mr. Guerra. And I suppose taxpayer dollars will go to rehabilitate him so one day, if amnest is granted, he can become a fine, upstanding citizen.

Okay, so now we know things are so bad in Mexico folks would rather be in a US jail than stay there LOL. Seriously, it's sad that the richest country in Latin America has so little to offer the citizens there.
