DANA POINT, Calif. (KTLA) -- Dozens of bales of marijuana that were floating off the coast of Orange County have been confiscated by authorities.

The U.S. Coast Guard, the Customs and Boarder Patrol, and the Orange County Sheriff's Department are all investigating.

The bales were free floating and not connected to any boat in the area.

"All of a sudden we show up (on) the dock here and there's a ship.. they're unloading continuous amounts of marijuana," said boater Lonnie Charleson. "It's so quiet here. It's such a shock."

Authorities say they have collected about 100 bales in waters near Dana Point Harbor.
