This article states we paid $33 million last year, so no wonder someone thinks it's VIVA BUSH....looks like HE doubled it this year!! Pourqoi??

I saw a figure $14 Billion in total foreign aid, so I think the $!5 Billion I'm thinking of is our entire foreign aid program.

If anyone remembers or knows differently, please post, but I'm comfortable with this article above confirming the $33 million last year and the $66 million this year.

WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD EL PRESIDIO DOUBLE THE FOREIGN AID TO MEXICO?

Are we rolling in dough up here we don't know about? Has someone led him to believe that the American People want to INCREASE the foreign aid to Mexico? WHAT AMERICAN TOLD THE PRESIDENT TO INCREASE THE FOREIGN AID TO MEXICO? Was that you Tony Garza, Was that you Alberto Gonzales, Was that you Condoleeza Rice, Was that you Carlos Guiterrez? Come on now, tell Mommy America, the Truth now children?

Children, this is NOT YOUR MONEY!! You are to protect the people of the USA and their money, not give it to a country trying to destroy our NATION, ruin the lives of the American People and turn the USA into a Third World Toilet Bowl. See kids???

ScareCrow, tell McHenry the Pres doubled it from last year. Being a new Congressman, he might not know that!!

CUT THE MONEY OFF!!! ALL OF IT!!

Brian503a--Do we give Israel $8 Billion or $8 Million?

$8 Billion is more than half of our entire Foreign Aid Program. Is there a post where los voz Aztlan was bitchin' about Israel?

Got it from the following thread below. I don't know if their figures are correct since it comes from a questionable source obviously. However I was just taking the opportunity with this thread to rub La Voz de Aztlan's nose in the dirt.

Israel can now be considered to be the 51st state. U.S. taxpayers are now sending over 8 billion dollars each year in economic and military aid.

Thanks Brian503a--Military Aid is a key ingredient to the number as this is a significant portion I'm sure. I've not been able to find the post that claimed we are sending $15 Billion to Mexico, but it was definitely a post by someone whom I believe had the correct information. One time I tried to search the foreign aid section of the State Department to find out what all this money was sent for but could not find it. Took more time than I had. I believe the $66 million to Mexico falls under the foreign aid which is only one small piece of the total aid send to Mexico. In my gut, I believe the $15 Billion is more accurate. Key an eye out for this number on Mexico as I believe it encompasses all types of AID, not just what they categorize as Foreign Aid.

For Judy, Charles and others interested in young Rep. Patrick McHenry. He serves North Carolina's 10th District and is from Gastonia. Below is his bio and the district profile:

    Biography of Congressman Patrick McHenry

Congressman Patrick McHenry became only the third person in forty years to represent the people of North Carolina’s 10th Congressional District with his victory in the 2004 election. The congressman won a competitive four-candidate primary and then an extremely close runoff election by 85 votes. The district stretches from the Blue Ridge Mountains to the South Carolina border.

Born in 1975, Congressman McHenry is the youngest member of the 109th Congress. He won membership on the House Financial Services Committee in January of 2005, which drafts and reviews all federal legislation involving the banking and financial services industry, including insurance companies, banks, credit unions, as well as legislation that relates to monetary policy, investment, and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Congressman McHenry also serves on two additional committees: the House Budget Committee, which drafts the federal budget each year, and the House Committee on Government Reform, which has jurisdiction to investigate any federal program or department, and any matter with federal policy implications. He is Vice Chairman of the House Republican Conference’s Retirement Security Team, and a member of the Executive Committee of the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC).

    Legislative priorities:
    • Second Amendment. Congressman McHenry is a strong proponent of the right to keep and bear firearms. He supports efforts to allow active and retired law enforcement officers to carry concealed weapons in any part of America. He is also a sponsor of “reciprocity legislation, which allows people with concealed carry permits issued in one state to carry their weapons in other states.
    • Pro-Life. Congressman McHenry strongly believes in protecting the rights of the unborn. He supports legislation that would put an end to abortion and assisted suicide, prohibit euthanasia, and opposes legislation that generally disregards the sanctity of human life.
    • Traditional Marriage. Congressman McHenry believes that marriage is between one man and one woman, and is the principal institution that holds society together. He opposes efforts to allow same-sex marriage, and opposes the appointment of activist judges who legislate their values from the bench.
    • Jobs. Congressman McHenry supports four principles to help bring good jobs to North Carolina. As small businesses are responsible for two-thirds of all new job creation, the congressman supports cutting regulations on small business that strangle job growth. He supports tort reform, which will lower the cost of heath care by limiting useless lawsuits. He supports the continued education and training of workers through institutions like community colleges. He also supports tax relief, which will spur economic growth and job creation, as taxpayers will spend more of their hard-earned dollars in the private sector.
    • Social Security. Social Security is facing a crisis: In 12 years, the program will start paying out more money than it will receive from tax revenues. When the program was created, there were 40 workers for every retiree. Now there are only three workers per retiree. Congressman McHenry believes in reforming the Social Security system by allowing younger workers to voluntarily invest a portion of their Social Security taxes into a “nest-egg that they can pass on to their children.

Congressman McHenry previously represented North Carolina House District 109 in the North Carolina House of Representatives. He is a graduate of Ashbrook High School in Gastonia, North Carolina and Belmont Abbey College, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in History. Congressman McHenry worked on the 1996 campaign staff of Robin Hayes for Governor, has been involved in two technology companies, and served as Coalition Director in the Bush for President Campaign in 2000. He also served as Special Assistant to the Secretary of the United States Department of Labor, a post he was appointed to by President Bush.

Congressman McHenry is a member of the Chambers of Commerce in all ten counties of the Tenth District, the Gastonia Rotary Club, the National Rifle Association and Saint Michael's Church. He also sits on the Board of Directors of the United Way’s Success by Six Youth Program.

Congressman McHenry maintains his residence in the Tenth District and commutes to Washington each week from his home in Cherryville, North Carolina.

    North Carolina's Tenth Congressional District

North Carolina’s Tenth Congressional District encompasses some of the most breathtaking scenery America has to offer. The Tenth District stretches from the Tennessee border, where the Blue Ridge Mountains reach up to touch the Carolina Blue sky, all the way to the border with South Carolina.

The Tenth District is comprised, fittingly enough, of ten counties. U.S. Highway 321 is one of the main thoroughfares through the district, starting in historic Lincoln County which produced four Civil War generals and is home to the annual Apple Festival.

From there one would travel north to Catawba County, the center of the district which comprises 20% of the district’s population. Catawba County is also one of North Carolina’s largest counties geographically, stretching from the pristine shores of Lake Norman in the east, through the county seat of Newton to the largest city in the district, Hickory, in the west.

It is in Catawba County that Highway 321 becomes known as the “Furniture Corridor. As one travels northwest out of Hickory and into Caldwell County, the road is lined with furniture retailers. From small antique shops, to massive outlets, this area is home to one of the largest concentrations of furniture manufacturers and retailers in the country. In fact, the welcome signs for Caldwell’s county seat, Lenoir, welcome visitors to “The Furniture Center of the South.

Continuing north, one travels deep into the Blue Ridge Mountains to the counties of Avery and Mitchell. The mountains here are some of the oldest in the world. Avery is home to much of North Carolina’s ski industry and Mitchell has vast natural resources including several gem mines. Every year, a large percentage of America’s Christmas trees come from Avery and Mitchell Counties.

Moving south in the Tenth District, there is sprawling Burke County, the home of legendary North Carolina Senator Sam Ervin. Like Caldwell County, Burke’s landscape is very diverse, ranging from mountains in the northern corners, to rolling foothills in the more southern regions. Burke’s county seat, Morganton, is home to several state offices and institutions including the North Carolina School for the Deaf.

Further south is Rutherford County. The textile industry built most of the small towns that dot this scenic county. However, most people do not know that Rutherford was also the location of America’s very first gold mint, run by the Bechtler family in the early 1800s. Rutherford is also home to Chimney Rock and Lake Lure, two of North Carolina’s most visited tourist towns.

To the east of Rutherford is Cleveland County. Two North Carolina governors have come from here and so have country music legends Earl Scruggs and Don Gibson. Both Cleveland County and its county seat, Shelby, are named after heroes of the Revolutionary War Battle of Kings Mountain, which occurred just to the south of the present day City of Kings Mountain.

Further to the east, the Tenth District takes in portions of Gaston County, including Crowder’s Mountain State Park and the City of Cherryville.

Cherryville is normally known as a baseball town but was also the home to North Carolina’s greatest football player, the legendary Charlie “Choo Choo Justice of UNC and Washington Redskins fame.

On the eastern edge of the Tenth District is the City of Mooresville in Iredell County.

Nestled on the eastern shores of Lake Norman, Mooresville is the second largest city in the district and the fastest growing. Known as “Race City USA, Mooresville is home to several NASCAR teams and drivers including Dale Earnhardt, Jr.

The Tenth District is home to three four-year colleges: Lenoir Rhyne in Hickory, Gardner Webb in Boiling Springs and Lees-McRae in Banner Elk. The district is also blessed to have several of North Carolina’s fine community colleges.
