BMV: Fix your license — or lose it

Hugo Gutierrez has no idea how or when the wrong year was recorded on his driver’s license: 1954 instead of 1952.

The typo triggered a letter from Indiana’s Bureau of Motor Vehicles asking the South Bend man to fix it within 30 days. If he didn’t fix it, he’d lose his license.

The letter — one of 206,000 that the BMV sent to Hoosiers whose information didn’t match a Social Security database — tickled his children, who teased, “Dad, you’ve been a bad boy.â€
