Body found was illegal immigrant
The body of a man found in the Cleveland National Forest Monday afternoon was that of an illegal immigrant who may have died from exposure, a sheriff's spokesman said today.

The man was discovered about two miles off a road near the Pine Valley Creek drainage area by a U.S. Forest Service worker who routinely hikes the area, sheriff's officials said.

Border Patrol spokesman Richard Smith said the body may have been there as long as six months. He said the man had papers on him that were turned over to the Medical Examiner's office

An investigator there said the man has not yet been identifed and his cause of death has still not been determined.
