SAN CLEMENTE, Calif.—U.S. Border Patrol agents have arrested six suspected illegal immigrants after a high-speed pursuit on an Orange County freeway.
Border Patrol spokesman Richard Smith says agents began chasing a sport utility vehicle carrying the six men early Saturday in San Clemente after its driver ignored orders to stop.

The vehicle left the freeway and came to a stop after exploding a tire against a curb and hitting a street sign.

Smith says four of the men were arrested immediately and the remaining two were caught after a short foot pursuit. No injuries were reported from the incident.

Smith says all six men told officials they were being smuggled into California. He did not know if any criminal charges were being pursued.
