Border agents net $1-million load of pot

Border agents net $1-million load of pot
    STAFF REPORTS
    July 27, 2007 - 4:45PM

U.S. BORDER PATROLBorder agents seized this million-dollar load of marijuana Friday morning along the U.S.-Mexico border. Border agents foiled a drug smuggling Friday morning and netted a $1 million load of marijuana. More than 1,400 pounds of the drug was confiscated, according to a press statement from U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

The bust happened at about 8:30 a.m. Friday after agents operating remote surveillance cameras spotted a pair of vehicles that had entered the U.S. illegally through the Colorado River south of County 11th Street.

One vehicle fled and the other vehicle became stuck on the riverbank and the people occupying it fled and ran into Mexico, according to the statement.

The search continues for the second vehicle, which is described as a gray pickup truck with a black camper shell. Anyone with information to report can call toll free at (800) 238-1945.

    Don't Chase 'Em

Hey! These guys that fled were supposed to do jobs that Americans won't do! Now the folks in New York that are required to pay illegals $40.00 per hour instead of the previous $10.00 won't have ANYONE to work for them!

MJ will never be legal simply because you can grow it at home year round, produce the best smoke ever and not have to give the government a dime! MJ does not need processing like cigarettes and alcohol, both of which are way more dangerous than MJ and legal??? The government makes more money on it when it is illegal.
Bottom line pharmaceutical companies can't charge you 10,000 times more than it cost and government can't tax it or profit in any way. These are the reason MJ is illegal.
MJ could solve so many problems and help so many people it is such a shame that we let our government control this plant.

Sorry guys but, these dealers will always be here unless it is made legal.

Regardless of the laws etc, people have been smoking marijuana since the beginning of time and will continue to do so one way or another.

The government causes so much suffering keeping it illegal.

    Why should marijuana be legal?
    • People have a basic right to make choices for themselves as long as their actions do not harm others.
Responsible individuals in a free society should be allowed to choose whether or not they use marijuana. Individual liberty is a fundamental value.
    • The government is wasting our time and money by prohibiting marijuana.
Taxpayers are forced to pay billions of dollars to persecute, prosecute, and incarcerate people for having marijuana. If marijuana were legal and regulated (like alcohol and tobacco) this money, plus tax revenues from marijuana sales, could be used for other purposes such as education and health care.
    • Prohibition is not an effective solution to the problems associated with marijuana use.
Marijuana, like tobacco and alcohol, can be abused. But prohibition is expensive and ineffective; education and regulation are better solutions. Regulating sales of marijuana and teaching people the truth about its health effects will allow us to minimize the harms and costs to society.
    • We have learned a lesson from history.
Alcohol prohibition did not work, and there is no logical reason to believe that marijuana prohibition is a better idea.

Those are drugs not a plant they all are all man made.

Not even close to the same thing, funny alcohol is "ok" though. Guess you never drink either huh?

I could go on for days with facts about marijuana but most of those that buy into the government propaganda will always be lead around by the nose by their government.

If marijuana were legal = NO DRUG DEALERS!

but as I stated before, MJ will never be legal simply because you can grow it at home year round, produce the best smoke ever and not have to give the government a dime!

Imagine having your life ripped apart, your possessions taken away, imprisoned etc for smoking/owning a plant???

That is just ancient. Too many people, the real crooks have a lot to lose if it were legal.

A little common sense goes a long way.
