Canada Border Services agents stopped more than 150 U.S. sex offenders from entering Canada, in part due to a partnership with United States customs, the federal government announced Monday.

Public Safety Minister Steven Blaney made the announcement Monday morning at Montreal’s Trudeau International Airport.

In 2014 alone, information provided by U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents helped CBSA agents refuse entry to 59 sex offenders.

Blaney also announced that information from Canadian citizens has helped law enforcement agents remove more than 50 “dangerous individuals” from Canada who had been on a federal Most Wanted list.

The “Wanted by the CBSA” program was launched in 2011 as a tool to help border services officers locate criminals with outstanding deportation orders.

To date, Blaney announced, the CBSA has located 59 individuals, and 51 have been removed from Canada.

“Canadians are safe when we remove foreign criminals from our soil,” Blaney told reporters.
