BROWNSVILLE - A Border Patrol agent was forced to fire his weapon Monday night after he was attacked.

Officials say agents saw several people who appeared to be smuggling drugs near the B&M bridge in Brownsville. They say the group threw rocks at the agents. One agent fired a warning shot, and the alleged smugglers went back across the border.

Agents recovered about 13 pounds of marijuana. Nobody was injured in the shooting.
