She said "I am deeply saddened by the senseless murder of Agent Brian Terry, who was killed in the line of duty while protecting our nation's borders. This is a tragedy that deserves nothing less than the swiftest and strongest response. It is a stark reminder that our borders are not yet secure. Senator McCain said agent's killing is another reminder of dangerous border
Posted: Dec 15, 2010 10:24 AM
Updated: Dec 15, 2010 10:28 AM
Senator John McCain made the following statement regarding the killing of Border Patrol agent Brian Terry.
"My thoughts and prayers are with the friends and family of Agent Brian Terry after yesterday's tragic shooting near Rio Rico, Arizona. This event is yet another reminder of the dangers the men and women of the Border Patrol face every day as they put their lives on the line to protect the American people. The increased violence in the border region demands that Congress provide the necessary resources and personnel to ensure the safety of all Americans, especially border patrol agents stationed on the border, and fulfill the Federal government's responsibility to secure our border."

NOGALES, Ariz. -- A U.S. Border Patrol agent was killed during an exchange of gunfire between agents and several armed individuals near the Arizona-Mexico border Tuesday night.
FBI Special Agent Manuel J. Johnson said four individuals were in custody, including one who was taken to a hospital with a gunshot wound. He said authorities were still searching for a fifth suspect.
Johnson said agent Brian A. Terry died shortly after he was shot about 11:15 p.m. in a remote and rugged area near Rio Rico, just north of Nogales.
No names of those in custody were available, Johnson said.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with the Terry family for their tragic loss," said U.S. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Alan Bersin.
"Our commitment to Agent Terry and his family is that we will do everything possible to bring to justice those responsible for this despicable act" Bersin said.
The FBI is leading the investigation with cooperation of the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office, according to CBP.
"Today we are deeply saddened by the loss of Agent Brian Terry, a patrol officer from the Nogales Border Patrol Station," the Arizona Cattleman's Association said in a news release. "We are thankful for his dedicated service to protecting the United States of America."
U.S. Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., said, "This event is yet another reminder of the dangers the men and women of the Border Patrol face every day as they put their lives on the line to protect the American people.
"The increased violence in the border region demands that Congress provide the necessary resources and personnel to ensure the safety of all Americans, especially border patrol agents stationed on the border, and fulfill the Federal government's responsibility to secure our border," McCain said.

BP agent shot, killed

Updated today at 10:31 AM
A U.S. Border Patrol agent was shot and killed late Tuesday in a canyon west of Interstate 19 in Santa Cruz County.
Authorities have identified the agent as Brian A. Terry, 40.
The FBI in Phoenix says Terry and other agents encountered a group of border bandits in Peck Canyon. That's just west of Rio Rico. Shooting broke out and Terry was hit.
He was flown by helicopter to a hospital in Tucson, but died either en route or at the hospital.
Some of the suspects are in custody, but an intensive search was underway Wednesday morning for at least one other suspect. The FBI says one of the suspects was shot and injured.
The search is centered west of I-19 between Peck Canyon near kilometer post 22 on I-19 and State Highway 289, also known as Ruby Road. That's about 8 miles south of Peck Canyon.
Both DPS and Border Patrol agents are all along Highway 289 working the theory the suspects would flee south and have to cross the highway at some point.
Terry is the third agent of the Customs and Border Protection agency to die in the line of duty this year. The agency says 34 agents have died in the past 15 years.
T.J. Bonner, the leader of a union representing Border Patrol agents, told the Associated Press on Wednesday that Terry was with three other agents in a remote area looking for the bandits, who target illegal immigrants for robbery.
The Border Patrol office in Tucson would not confirm Bonner's account.
The Washington, D.C. office of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection has issued a statement from Commissioner Alan Bersin expressing support for the Terry family and pledging to do all possible to bring the suspects to justice.
U.S. Senator John McCain issued a statement Wednesday morning, saying in part, "This is yet another reminder of the dangers the men and women of the Border Patrol face every day as they put their lives on the line to protect the American people."
Both Southern Arizona member of congress issued statements. Gabrielle Giffords from District 8 , called the death "senseless", and said, "What additional tragedies must Southern Arizonans endure before my colleagues in Congress and the Obama administration address this crisis with the full weight of our resources? We must act and we must act now."
District 7 Congressman Raul Grijalva also called on agencies on both sides of the border to work to stem the tide of violence. "Neither we nor our neighbors want to see the border region become more dangerous," he said. "This crime should not deter the many peaceful efforts underway to improve the quality of life for people on both sides of the border".
The Arizona Cattlemen's Association, which has been active in border issues, expressed its sadness in Agent Terry's death, and said in a statement, "Each day a special group of men and women put their lives on the line for the safety and security of this country. The agents of the United States Border Patrol are normally rancher's first responders and usually the only law enforcement on our ranches across the Southern Arizona border."
The area where the shooting occured is a known drug and alien trafficking "highway" to the north.
The Border Patrol is asking anyone with any information about the shooting to call 1 800 872 7435. It says all calls will be answered and the person calling will remain anonymous.

12-15-2010, 01:58 PM #16National Border Patrol Council President T.J. Bonner says the agents were trying to catch suspected bandits who target illegal immigrants for robbery
Well if they illegals didnt sneak in there would be no need to protect them from bandits.
Our BP are out protecting the illegals against other illegals and A Man lost his life all because of Illegals.
Why is it their problem that the poor illegals are targets .They need to protect the border to protect americans not protect illegals from bandits..THEY ARE NOT AMERICANS AND THEY BROKE THE LAW BY SNEAKING IN AND WE NOW PROTECT THEM!!!!
Im tired of this crap...Who is protecting us from the illegals or the bandits ..NOBODY !! Stop it all at the border then the BP can do its job on protecting US!!
That man should be enjoying xmas with his family, Instead he and whoever gave them the orders to protect the illegals from the bandits instead of stoping them all at the border he will not be home for xmas..PISSES ME OFF!!!! NAPPY needs a dunce hat on with a toy gun for protection sitting on the border ...

This is the homepage for the Union Representing Border Agents n Southern Arizona
Border Patrol Agent Brian A. Terry Killed Near Nogales
12-15-10 Agent Terry was a member of Local 2544. We believe he was killed by illegal alien "bandits" north of Nogales during a shootout. He was assigned to the Naco station and he was a member of BORTAC. By all accounts he was a fine agent.
This is one more example of the sacrifices made by front-line agents, and it's a major reason we are continually outraged by activists and self-serving politicians in Washington DC who sell us out with incessant talk about "amnesty" for illegal aliens. While they play games, our country continues to be invaded and Border Patrol agents continue to pay the price. Please don't let Agent Terry's death be in vain. Call your local politicians and tell them to fight amnesty and to support border security.

Hearing that from the hole called a mouth of staunch pro open borders and illegal immigration advocate Grijalva only shows the hypocritical treasonous horse's ass this p.o.s. really is. This worm doesn't give a damn about Border Patrol agents fighting the drug and human smuggling cartels crossing the wide open border. If he did his damn job representing American citizens instead of illegal aliens and securing the border instead of campaigning for open borders and amnesty like the other useless p.o.s. Napolitano and the losers in the Hispanic de-facto Mexican Congressional Caucus, this agent would not have been murdered on OUR territory and would have gone home to his family after his shift. His blood along with that of other murdered border patrol agents and thousands of innocent Americans is on Grijalva, Gutierrez, Baca's Baccerra,'s and the other corruptocrat BASTARDS hands.....
Hey Napolitano, tell us again our border is secure with cartels and other violence on the border resulting in the murders of Border Patrol Agents and innocent Americans and signs telling Americans to stay away from various parts of our territory 80 miles north of the Arizona/Mexican border because of drug and human smuggling violence. What a damn waste of tax payer dollars she is.......
There is no freedom without the law. Remember our veterans whose sacrifices allow us to live in freedom.
