"Over the past year and a half, this administration has pursued a new border security strategy with an unprecedented sense of urgency, making historic investments in personnel, technology and infrastructure," Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said in a statement released on July 19.
"These troops will provide direct support to federal law enforcement officers and agents working in high-risk areas to disrupt criminal organizations seeking to move people and goods illegally across the Southwest border," the statement continued.
Napolitano also announced in July that more than $47 million in fiscal year 2010 Operation Stonegraden grants for the Southwest border states to support law enforcement personnel, overtime and related costs. Nearly 80 percent of the funding will go to Arizona, California, New Mexico and Texas, up from 59 percent in 200"
She is so full of s@#$. Border Patrol tells us the border is more porous than ever. For every illegal alien including those from state sponsors of terrorism they apprehend, 4 or 5 evade capture. Thousands illegally enter the country every week. Our wonderful gallant Border Patrol personnel are out manned, out gunned and severely under resourced. They caught 6,000 from special interest countries alone in 2008. An undercover government security team successfully sneaked enough simulated fissile material to build a nuclear device across an unguarded part of the border (only 852 miles of the 1,957 mile long border is under operational control) right up to the Federal Building in Phoenix using the same backpacks and gym bags used by illegal aliens to smuggle drugs, weapons and god only know what else into the country. Obama will be pulling what few guard troops there are off the border in February. Border security, what border security??????There is no freedom without the law. Remember our veterans whose sacrifices allow us to live in freedom.

Want to know something sad ? Until I checked ALIPAC I had no idea a border agent had been killed , and I read the news every day. This country won't take notice until there's a massacre down there , how sad.

Statement from the National Association of Former Border Patrol Officers
During the late evening of 12-14-10, U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry was performing his duty in the area of Peck Canyon near Rio Rico, Arizona, when he was murdered by armed bandits.
This is the latest in a long series of incidents in which foreign bandits and thugs have shot, assaulted, robbed and otherwise preyed upon U.S. law enforcement officers and citizens.
Our leaders in Washington, D.C. have chosen the path of "crisis management" instead of resolving the crisis through concise and immediate remedial action.
U.S. law enforcement officers have been murdered in major U.S. cities by illegal aliens. U.S. citizens have been kidnapped and murdered by foreign nationals.
U.S. Border Patrol Agents have long been at the forefront in this war on lawlessness generated by our leaders' failure to secure our borders, and to do so in reality
Now, Agent Brian Terry has become the latest sacrifice on the altar of political correctness.
We call for immediate implementation of our Comprehensive Immigration Enforcement proposal.
We call for eliminating all restrictions that impede or hinder Border Patrol operations along the U.S./Mexico border on public lands.
We call for the deployment of U.S. military units to help secure the border and thus eliminate the violence generated by drug cartels for control of drug routes into the USA.
David J. Stoddard, Chairman National Association of Former Border Patrol Officers

Janet Napolitano is coming out here tomorrow to talk to Border Patrol. I'll try and report on local coverage for you.
Illegal aliens remain exempt from American laws, while they DEMAND American rights...

Statement by Senator Jon Kyl on the Murder of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senate Republican Whip Jon Kyl today made the following statement regarding Border Patrol Agent Brian A. Terry, who was killed Tuesday in the line of duty near Rio Rico, Arizona:
“I am deeply saddened that Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry was shot and killed last night. I extend my deepest condolences to his family, friends and colleagues, and I honor his service and sacrifice in defense of our nation. Our nation is fortunate to have men and women in law enforcement who are willing to protect us at great danger to themselves.
“This act of violence is yet another upsetting reminder of the dangers along the southern border. The federal government must do more to secure the border and prevent future tragedies.â€
