We already DO have 'shootouts in the streets' if you consider the gangs, such as MS 13, and the problems when our officers encounter illegal aliens who are committing even more crimes (other than just being here illegally).

There was a shoot out between Mexican Drug Cartel gang members on a highway outside Houston injuring several innocent motorists. We already are a bankrupt, impoverished, crime ridden, third world socialist sewer.....
There is no freedom without the law. Remember our veterans whose sacrifices allow us to live in freedom.

Border Patrol Agent Killed in Southern Arizona

DEVELOPING: TUCSON, Ariz. -- A U.S. Border Patrol agent was gunned down after he encountered several suspects who were targeting illegal immigrants for robbery in southern Arizona, officials said Wednesday.

Agent Brian A. Terry, 40, was killed late Tuesday near Rio Rico, Ariz., according to a statement released by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials.

At least four suspects are in custody and another is still being pursued.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the Terry family for their tragic loss," CBP Commissioner Alan Bersin said in a statement. "Our commitment to Agent Terry and his family is that we will do everything possible to bring to justice those responsible for this despicable act."

The FBI and the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office are investigating Terry's death.

KOLD-TV ( http://www.kold.com/ ) in Tucson reports the incident occurred just after 11 p.m. Tuesday in the Peck Canyon area north of Nogales.

The leader of a union representing Border Patrol agents said Terry was trying to catch bandits who target illegal immigrants for robbery.

National Border Patrol Council President T.J. Bonner said Terry was waiting with three other agents in a remote area north of Nogales when a gun battle began. A CBP spokesman would not confirm that account.

Prior to Terry's death, the last fatal shooting of a Border Patrol agent was on July 23, 2009, when Robert Rosas, 30, was killed by unidentified assailants while responding to suspicious activity in a known smuggling corridor near Campo, Calif., CBP officials said.

In May, President Obama authorized the deployment of up to an additional 1,200 National Guard troops to the Southwest border to provide support for surveillance, reconnaissance and narcotics enforcement to augment CBP and U.S. Customs and Immigration (ICE) authorities already in place. Those deployments began on Aug. 1. Obama also requested $600 million in supplemental funds for enhanced border protection and law enforcement activities.

"Over the past year and a half, this administration has pursued a new border security strategy with an unprecedented sense of urgency, making historic investments in personnel, technology and infrastructure," Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said in a statement released on July 19.

"These troops will provide direct support to federal law enforcement officers and agents working in high-risk areas to disrupt criminal organizations seeking to move people and goods illegally across the Southwest border," the statement continued.

Napolitano also announced in July that more than $47 million in fiscal year 2010 Operation Stonegraden grants for the Southwest border states to support law enforcement personnel, overtime and related costs. Nearly 80 percent of the funding will go to Arizona, California, New Mexico and Texas, up from 59 percent in 2008.

FoxNews.com's Joshua Rhett Miller and The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Don't you want to round up all the illegals and dump them on the white house lawn or spread them out to all the rich communties or the homes of senators and such...They want them take them...Keep them in your home and your schools and in your shopping center.

U.S. REP. GABRIELLE GIFFORDS’ STATEMENT ON THE MURDER OF BORDER PATROL AGENT

    December 15, 2010
Congresswoman says killing of Agent Brian Terry is ‘a stark reminder that our borders are not yet secure’

WASHINGTON – U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords today issued the following statement on the murder of Border Patrol agent Brian A. Terry, who was shot and killed Tuesday after he encountered several suspects near Rio Rico, Ariz.

I am deeply saddened by the senseless murder of Agent Brian Terry, who was killed in the line of duty while protecting our nation’s borders.

This is a tragedy that deserves nothing less than the swiftest and strongest response. It is a stark reminder that our borders are not yet secure. The full efforts of federal, state and local law enforcement agencies are focused on bringing to justice all those involved.

What additional tragedies must Southern Arizonans endure before my colleagues in Congress and the Obama administration address this crisis with the full weight of our resources? We must act and we must act now.

The deployment of the National Guard must be extended. Additional Border Patrol agents must be dispatched to the border. And we must make smarter decisions about how technology can assist in meeting this vast challenge.

While boots on the ground are critical, they are not enough. All those responsible for securing our border must be fully equipped with the resources they need to get the job done – forward operating bases, unmanned aerial systems and electronic surveillance.

While there have been some small measures of progress in securing the border, Agent Terry’s murder and the still-unsolved slaying of rancher Robert Krentz on his land in Cochise County in March are painful reminders that much more remains to be done.

Drugs and violence along the border continue to pose significant challenges for our nation. The Tucson Sector of the Border Patrol, to which Agent Terry was assigned, must be the focus for national enforcement efforts. It is responsible for almost 50 percent of the drug seizures by the entire Border Patrol nationwide.

Mexico is a nation at war. Battles between drug cartels and the government have led to the killing of more than 28,000 people in Mexico in the last four years since President Felipé Calderon declared war on the drugs cartels. That drug violence has come across our border and directly impacted our way of life.

We must not relent in our efforts to make Southern Arizona safe. Ranchers and other residents must be able to live on their land and in their homes and work in their businesses without fear. Law enforcement officers protecting our citizens must not be threatened by vicious criminals who enter our country illegally.

I salute the resolute work of the brave men and women of the Border Patrol and the other agencies that work every day to protect our borders. And I offer my heartfelt condolences to the Terry family for their profound personal loss. Our commitment to them must be evident in our determination to bring to justice every person involved in this horrific crime.

STATEMENT BY SENATOR JOHN McCAIN REGARDING THE BORDER PATROL AGENT KILLED IN THE LINE OF DUTY IN ARIZONA
    December 15, 2010

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator John McCain made the following statement regarding Brian A. Terry, a Border Patrol Agent who was killed in the line of duty last night in Rio Rico, Arizona:

“My thoughts and prayers are with the friends and family of Agent Brian Terry after yesterday’s tragic shooting near Rio Rico, Arizona. This event is yet another reminder of the dangers the men and women of the Border Patrol face every day as they put their lives on the line to protect the American people. The increased violence in the border region demands that Congress provide the necessary resources and personnel to ensure the safety of all Americans, especially border patrol agents stationed on the border, and fulfill the Federal government’s responsibility to secure our border.â€
