Border Patrol Agents Apprehend Two Sex Offenders Over Weekend

EAGLE PASS, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Eagle Pass Station arrested two previously convicted sex offenders, May 17.

“The agents of Del Rio Sector work diligently around the clock to ensure the safety and security of our communities," said Del Rio Sector Acting Chief Patrol Agent Doyle E. Amidon, Jr. “Thanks to the hard work of our agents, these dangerous and violent criminals were arrested before they could become a plague upon our neighborhoods and the public at large.”

Agents conducting line watch operations, encountered and arrested a 30-year-old male citizen of Honduras. During processing, records checks revealed that he had previously been convicted of sexual assault-carnal abuse of a juvenile in Lafayette, Louisiana in 2016. He was subsequently removed from the United States in 2017.

In a separate incident, agents encountered a 31-year-old male citizen of Mexico. During processing, records checks revealed that he was previously convicted of child-fondling and sexual exploitation of minor-exhibition of minor in Loudoun, Virginia. He was subsequently removed from the United States in 2019.

Both men are now facing charges of 8 USC § 1326 – re-entry after deportation, which carries a maximum sentence of up to 20 years of incarceration.
