Convicted Killer, Other Felons Stopped at the Border
(Monday, June 28, 2010)
Tucson, Ariz. – In separate incidents over the weekend, U.S. Border Patrol agents in the Tucson Sector arrested four criminal aliens with felony convictions. Agents discovered the criminal records after enrolling each of the individuals into the Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System.
One man arrested in Nogales had been convicted of second degree reckless homicide and armed robbery in Wisconsin. Other felons arrested this weekend by the Tucson sector Border Patrol include a sex offender and two gang members. Their convictions included lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14, battery, burglary and possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute. All of the subjects were held for prosecution.
Violent and dangerous criminal aliens attempt to illegally cross the border every day. IAFIS technology assists agents by swiftly identifying individuals with criminal records. Agents remain committed to bringing criminal aliens to an appropriate law enforcement resolution.
From Oct. 1, 2009, to May 31, 2010, the Tucson sector Border Patrol has apprehended more than 170,000 people attempting to illegally enter the U.S. The tenacity of criminal aliens to attempt illegal entry only strengthens the resolve of Border Patrol agents to keep them out of the U.S.
