Border Patrol agents arrested a Salvadoran man with a sexual assault conviction last week near Sullivan City.

Agents arrested Wil "William" Esnesto Flores on Aug. 2, according to the federal criminal complaint against him.

"The defendant claims to have illegally entered the United States on August 2, 2016, near Hidalgo, Texas," according to the criminal complaint. "Record checks revealed the defendant was formally deported/excluded from the United States on January 19, 2016, through Houston, Texas."

Flores also had a criminal record.

On Oct. 1, 2015, Flores was convicted of sexual assault of a child between 14 and 17 years old and sentenced to five years probation, according to the criminal complaint.

Court records don't list an attorney for Flores, who remains in federal custody.
