BROWNSVILLE — Border Patrol agents shot at suspected drug smugglers who pelted them with rocks from the Mexican side of the Rio Grande, authorities said Friday. One agent was struck in the back of the head during the incident Wednesday night near Havana, about 12 miles west of Mission.

The agent, part of a team of boat patrol agents called to help thwart an attempt to smuggle marijuana, was treated at an area hospital and released.

Border Patrol spokesman Henry Mendiola said he did not know how many shots were fired or whether anyone on the Mexican side was hit. He said the FBI was investigating.

Federal and state officials have asserted that agents and assisting police units are ready to respond with force when attacked. On June 9, Texas Rangers, state game wardens, and Border Patrol agents fired some 300 rounds in response to a smattering of gunshots from across the river.

I sure hope the border patrol agents don't get locked up over this one.

The US government will not even blink at these incursions. They happen constantly, we just never hear about them.

Remember recently when the automatic fire came across the border from Juarez and landed in the offices of city officials while they were conducting business on the US side, and in the middle of the day?

    Was that Brownsville?

What high ranking American official must perish at the hands of this drug war before the US finally does something about it?

So let me see if I understand. It’s still against the law to cross our borders without papers (is it?), but once you breach the border, you can get in the face of our elected officials and DEMAND all sorts of special treatment while they look on like neutered sheep. You can make your way to any number of sanctuary cities across this country, where you can be assured politicians will be working overtime to guarantee you’re not offended, much less subjected to the letter of the law.

Moreover, we now have a president who continues to waste massive amounts of time and resources, aiding and abetting illegal invaders who are actively violating the very laws border patrol agents are being paid to enforce. I’m sorry, but I just don’t get that. I need an explanation here.

Here’s a question, why do we even have a border patrol when we have a president issuing orders exempting certain invaders from deportation? Seems like a huge expenditure that we could do without.

Can someone answer that question for me, because it seems once again, I’m confused.

I post the number of reported rockings here each week.
    JD2
    -----------

    Example:

U.S. Border Patrol Weekly Blotter (08/24/2011)

Border Patrol agents seized more than 20,501 pounds of marijuana. Agents arrested five criminal aliens and 14 gang members. There was one rocking incident.

*This overview is compiled from incidents reported to U.S. Border Patrol Headquarters and is not intended to reflect all Border Patrol enforcement actions. Most arrests and seizures fail to meet the requirements for mandatory reporting to Border Patrol Headquarters . . .

    ======================================

The number of reported rockings is usually 4 to 7.

But many of them are not considered important enough to report.
