ANTELOPE WELLS, N.M. (KFOX14) — Officials with the U.S. Border Patrol said they have apprehended a second large group, containing 115 migrants, crossing the New Mexico border on Thursday night.

Agents said the second group was apprehended a day after the first group, which contained 247 migrants, was taken into custody in Antelope Wells, New Mexico.
On Thursday night around 9:30 p.m., the second large group was met by Border Patrol agents.

The Border Patrol said this group consisted of Central American families and unaccompanied juveniles.

Fifteen families requested medical attention shortly after being apprehended, according to the Border Patrol.

The Border Patrol said that while the first group was apprehended, criminal organizations attempted to move illegal drugs across the border west of Antelope Wells.

Agents said they were able to arrest the drug smugglers and seize 265 pounds of marijuana.

The Border Patrol said this is the 25th large group, consisting of over 100 people, since the beginning of the fiscal year in that area alone.
