Border Patrol Arrests Homicide Suspect

San Clemente, CA -- U.S. Customs and Border Protection's (CBP) Border Patrol arrested a homicide suspect early Monday morning in Dana Point, California. Border Patrol Agents from the San Clemente station, acting on information collected and verified by their intelligence unit, arrested Alberto Abundio-Sostenes on his way to work. Abundio, a Mexican citizen illegally in the United States, was wanted for murder in Mexico.

Agents confirmed that Mexico's Office of the Attorney General had an active homicide warrant for Abundio in Jalisco, Mexico for the past seven years. When the agents contacted Abundio, he admitted to being in the United States illegally. He was arrested and transported to the San Clemente Border Patrol station and processed for removal to Mexico. Later that morning, Abundio was turned over to the Mexican authorities at the San Ysidro Port of Entry.
