In addition, publicly I see nothing happening to demonstrate that parent of school age children are aware that America's children are second rate in America's schools. That is very troubling for me, very difficult to understand?? My parents would have drove the school board over the edge. Matter of fact, one of the loudest adult public arguments I ever witnessed was Mom and Dad fighting with the school board over adding electricity to the building, an expense of about $300 as I recall. My folks were the only ones for it when the meeting started but after several hours, well, lights were installed yet before school started that summer. On school issues my folks were tenacious. Today I see only very small numbers of participants at school board meetings.

Are present day Americans weak or slothful about civic duty? Or both?
