Border Patrol Chief 'Excited' About Incoming Trump Administration
Border Patrol Chief 'Excited' About Incoming Trump Administration

The implications of the 2024 election are still becoming apparent.
One of the major issues in this election was illegal immigration and the crime that accompanies it, including the murders of Rachel Morin, Jocelyn Nungaray, and Laken Riley. As part of his shakeup of the immigration and border protection apparatus, President-elect Trump (who will never get tired of this) has appointed pit bull Tom Homan as Border Czar.
On Wednesday, in a Fox News exclusive interview, Border Patrol Chief Jason Owens expressed his support for Trump's actions and said he was "excited" to work with the incoming administration.
Border Patrol Chief Jason Owens says he is "excited" by the prospect of incoming Trump border czar Tom Homan leading the charge of deportations and border security – as he pointed to violent Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua as one of the top threats facing the country.
Owens, who took the position of chief last year, spoke to Fox News’ Griff Jenkins in San Antonio, Texas, in his first interview since the election. He was asked what he thought of the appointment of Homan, a former Border Patrol agent and former head of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
"I'm excited because Tom Homan is a brother Border Patrol agent. He served time in this uniform. And so I'm excited to see any of our green family make good," he said. "And I'm excited to see what he's going to do."
What he's going to do, we hope, is get some control over the Charlie Foxtrot that is our southern border, and the northern border as well, which has problems of its own.
While the Border Patrol may be looking forward to Tom Homan's taking the reins, they still have to deal with the feckless and irresponsible Biden administration for a few more weeks. The Biden team, of course, is in large part responsible for this mess in the first place.
There have been tensions between the Biden administration and Border Patrol agents over the handling of the crisis at the southern border. The Border Patrol union has been deeply critical of the administration and backed the Trump campaign during the presidential election.
Owens came into the role as chief in a year that saw record encounters at the southern border. He said "it’s been exhausting" for agents to deal with the last four years at the border. Numbers have dropped sharply recently due in part to a proclamation limiting asylum signed by President Biden in June, but it is unclear if those numbers will remain low for long.
We can expect these numbers to drop starting January 20th.
Elections have consequences.
One of the major problems facing the United States right now is the utter loss of control of our borders. The Biden administration seems to have thrown up its hands and surrendered, allowing this tremendous influx of largely unattached, young, military-aged men. The influx has not just come from Latin America but also from the Middle East, sub-Saharan Africa, and China - perhaps as many as six figures of Chinese nationals, again, mostly young, military-aged men.
You don't have to be Albert Einstein to see the possible implications of all this.
There will always be some leakage on the border. A nation with over 8,000 miles of land border, much of it in wild places, cannot preclude every single illegal crossing. But we can do a lot more than we have been, and we can make the environment in the United States less attractive to illegal aliens, leading to a lot of self-deportation. And, we can track down known criminals and deport them. There's a lot we can do to minimize the problem.
Joe Biden has done none of these things. Donald Trump will. That is, in large part, why he won the election.
