CORPUS CHRISTI — More than $1.5 million worth of heroin has been seized in two unrelated incidents by Border Patrol agents from the Kingsville station.

Agents at the Sarita checkpoint on Tuesday found 18.4 pounds of heroin and arrested two men, who were traveling on a commercial bus.

Authorities said a U.S. Border Patrol canine team alerted to two suitcases in the luggage compartment of the bus, where agents found 16 bundles of heroin concealed within the panel linings.

On Saturday, agents at the checkpoint discovered 1.37 pounds of the drug strapped to a woman’s abdomen.

The Drug Enforcement Administration took custody of the two men and the woman. Combined, the heroin had a street value of $1.58 million.
